Renton
The protagonist of the film. Constantly shifts between being on drugs and not. Is a questionable character, especially due to his betrayal. His sense of carefreeness adds comedy.
Spud
Quite hyper, especially when on drugs. Wants to do good in life (seen in job interview) but drugs get in his way. The one who sees Renton betray them all, yet let’s him go.
Sick Boy
A questionable character. Does really dodgy and illegal businesses, like drug transport. Gets high a lot. ‘Looks after’ Renton’s girlfriend when he’s in London.
Bigbie
Violent person who has no thoughts on others feelings. Shows up when he’s unwanted. Starts fights really easily.
Tommie
The good character who meets a terrible end the one time he does something. Wants adventure and sees the good in life yet ends up dead when he does drugs for the first time.
